The Weyungagawa area in the southern part of the North Island of New Zealand is dominated by the alternation of sedimentation and erosion during the Upper Pleistocene icy margin climate. The lower, younger terraces formed under the normal, normal climatic conditions since the mid-Holocene. These terraces were displaced 297 meters, 100 meters, 57 meters and 28 meters respectively by the Wairarapa fault. Since 10000 years, the average horizontal slip rate of the Wairarapa fault has been 10 mm / year. The 1855 earthquake of magnitude 8 repeats 1500 years.
