焚香自然离不开香炉,和之前的一些香炉比起来,宣德炉无疑是铜香炉制作的精品。作为一个礼仪之邦,焚香的习俗在中国有着悠久的历史,故香炉的用途极广,通常人们为了礼仪将衣服熏香,古代文人雅士也喜欢在书房内,焚上一炉香,营造“红袖添香夜读书”的意境。因此,早在汉代以前就出现了以陶、瓷、铜、铁、瓦为材料制成的香炉,到了元末明初,原先其他材料的香炉逐渐被铜香炉所取代。再到明代宣德年间,出现了铜香炉的巅峰制品——宣德炉。

Therefore, as early as the Han Dynasty, pottery, porcelain, copper, iron and tile were used as incense burners. By the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, the original incense burners of other materials were gradually replaced by copper incense burners. Then to the Ming Dynasty Xuande years, appeared the peak of copper incense products - Xuande furnace.
