在我国古陶瓷发展史上,江苏宜兴窑与广东石湾窑是两处以生产陶器而闻名的民间窑场。明清时期,这两处窑场在生产紫砂陶和石湾陶器之外,还都烧制过一种以陶泥为胎、器表施釉的釉陶,由于这类釉陶中某些产品的釉色特点与钧窑瓷器有相似之处,因此后人常称之为“宜钧”或“广钧”。这两种产品在当时不仅供民间使用,它们之中的某些精致之作更受到了明清两代皇家的赏识,成为宫廷内的陈设与珍藏,但在清代宫廷的原始档案中,并无宜钧或广钧之称。
