Objective To analyze the changes of perioperative blood lipids in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) undergoing hepatectomy and its relationship with the changes of prealbumin and aminotransferase. Methods Totally 126 patients with HCC underwent liver surgery. The levels of triglyceride, cholesterol, prealbumin, and aminotransferase were measured before and 1, 3 and 7 days after operation. Results The preoperative cholesterol of HCC patients was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.01). The levels of triglyceride and cholesterol on the 1st, 3rd and 7th day after operation were significantly lower than those before operation (P <0.01). The change of cholesterol was negatively correlated with alanine aminotransferase (r = -0.231, P <0.05), but not with prealbumin (r = 0.082, P> 0.05). Triglyceride levels and preoperative albumin and alanine aminotransferase levels had no correlation (r = 0.091, P> 0.05; r = 0.086, P> 0.05). Conclusion HCC patients with dyslipidemia, postoperative lower blood lipids may be related to liver damage and surgical stress.
