In the process of replacing incandescent lamps with LED and lasers as light sensor light sources, manufacturers and end users enjoy the inherent advantages of semiconductors: small size, low power consumption, ease of mass production, and long life. With the further development of microelectronic technology, optical sensor manufacturers have developed smaller and more powerful devices. However, the design of the LED does not allow it to be used in beam interruptions where the distance between the light source and the target is more than a few centimeters. As a result, lasers are a common choice for long range applications, but lasers may present some safety issues to the end user.
