圆圈式天线具有重量轻、构造简单、覆盖频率范围广等优点。所以,这种天线是接收特高频(UHF)频段较为合适的天线。我国的电视广播频道(特高频)和频道中心及频率范围,在VHF(甚高频)频段内,分为Ⅰ、Ⅲ两个波段,12个频道,其中Ⅰ波段是1～5频道,Ⅲ波段是6～12频道。UHF分Ⅳ和Ⅴ两个波段,计56个频道。附表是我国目前电视广播UHF频段的频道划分与频率范围等数据表。
