随着祖国机床制造业的日益发展，机床设计也更加显示出其重要。日前，我们生产的品种还不多，而祖国的各个工业部门中需要的是各种类型的效率很高的新型机床。像汽车与拖拉机制造厂需要的高速的自动、半自动及一些特殊的机床；轧钢厂需要重型的轧辊车床等。因而机床设计人员的任务就是要为祖国供应各种新型效率高的机床生产图样。 不可否认的，我们机床设计的力是正如雨后春笋一样的成长著。虽然我们的经验很少，设计资料也缺乏。但是我们有很多的有利条件，我们有苏联先进的设计图样、书籍及设计资料；我们有苏联专家热诚的指导，在他们的指导下来改进我们的设计；由于我们接近生产实践，可在工人、机械员那里，得到许多活和资料。机床设计的同志们，希望能通过这块「设计与计算」园地，来交流我们的经验、心得、理论，提高我们的设计能力，为不断的改进与供给祖国更好的机床图样而奋斗。
With the growing development of the motherland’s machine tool manufacturing industry, machine tool design has also shown its importance. A few days ago, we produced only a few varieties, and what was needed in various industrial sectors of the motherland was various types of very efficient new machines. High-speed automatic, semi-automatic and some special machine tools like automotive and tractor manufacturing plants; rolling mills require heavy-duty roll lathes. Therefore, the task of machine tool designers is to supply all kinds of new and efficient machine tools for the motherland. Admittedly, the power of our machine tool design is just as springing up. Although we have very little experience, design information is lacking. But we have a lot of favorable conditions. We have the advanced design drawings, books and design materials of the Soviet Union. We have the dedicated guidance of the Soviet experts who can improve our design under their guidance. As we approach the production practice, we can provide workers, machinery There, get a lot of living and information. The comrades of machine tool design hope that through this “design and calculation” field, we can exchange our experiences, experiences and theories to improve our design capabilities and strive to continuously improve and supply better machine designs to the motherland.
