One person from the US Bureau of Mines reviews articles on the current Soviet metallurgical industry. The following is a summary of the gold section of the paper: More than two thirds of the gold in the Soviet Union is produced in the Far East and Eastern Siberia, mainly from Koremai, Aldan, Seoul, Indikirkar, Jana and Shktrka; most of the rest come from the Urals, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Western Siberia. The high international gold price has stimulated the Soviet Union’s plan to expand gold production. The Soviet Union is importing large equipment from Western Europe and the United States.
