1997年8月15日,建于1939年原宫殿式的杭州火车站主站房夷为平地。这个历经58年的老火车站于去年6月24日18时正式“离休”。其担负的客运任务全部转移到市区东部的杭州东站。两年后新站大厦将以崭新的雄姿展现在世人面前。 老站不堪负重 原杭州火车站是在抗日战争期间,城墙外的火车站被炸毁后,迁至城墙之内而建的,因此被称为“城站”。当时的城站按最高候车人数1000人设计。主站房虽不大,且是砖木结构,但琉璃瓦、高净空、大屋顶、大飞檐、大戗角、大滴水……体现了日本奈良
