蚜虫(aphids)对农作物有很大的为害,它传播病毒,使作物减产。当蚜虫受天敌进攻时,它会从腹管中分泌出挥发性的警戒素(alarm pheromone)给附近蚜虫以危险信号,使其迅速脱离现场。1972年Bowers等对蔷薇长管蚜(Macrosiphum rosae)、豌豆蚜(Acyrthosiphonpisum)、麦二叉蚜(Schizaphis graminum)以及棉蚜(Aphis gossypii)等四类蚜虫的警戒素进行了研究,并鉴定出它们为倍半萜类的E-β-法尼烯(1,EBF)。1973年Edwards和Wientiens等也分别确定了桃蚜(Myzus persiae)和谷长管蚜(Macrosiphum avenae)的警戒素也是EBF。因此,研究蚜虫警戒素对开发新蚜虫防治方法有一定重要意义。
