抗战时期,著名教育家陶行知先生在四川创办了育才学校,以收留战乱中流离失所的儿童。为筹集办学资金,陶先生四处奔波。先生的上衣有两个口袋,其一用来装捐款,其一用来装私钱,可谓公私分明。一日募得一笔捐款后,天色已晚,饥饿、疲乏一起向先生袭来,先生欲乘车返校。尽管装捐款的口袋鼓鼓囊囊,可他一摸装私钱的口袋却不名一文。先生无奈地摇摇头,只好忍着饥饿拖着疲惫的脚步向着十多里外的学校走去……
