英语是职工中专必修课,也是职工班学员感到压力最大的一门课程。加强与改进教学方法是提高教学效果的重要因素之一。一、从学员实际出发,扬长避短,积极调动学员意义记忆的优势,弥补机械记忆的不足 1.单词讲授采取合并教法,如同音词合并、同形词合并、同义词合并、近义词合并、反义词合并。例如教“call”这个新词时,带出以前学过的同形ball、tall、wall、hall等词。通过旧词的联系加深了对新词的认识。教surgical(外科的)时,举出medical(内科的),学out—patient department(门诊部),指出in—patient departm—ent(住院部),用反义词来加深新词印象。在讲到strept—omycin(链霉素)时,把红霉素、卡那霉素、金霉素等表示抗菌药物的词后缀进行归纳,其共同点都是以mycin结尾,指出前缀、后缀、词根等结构可扩大词汇量。运用这种词汇教法,学员对词汇学习减少了畏难感,愿意动脑分析后设法联系、归纳、合并、比较,变机械记忆为理解记忆。
