Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) causes symptoms or complications that often require treatment with drugs or surgery. Therefore, the correct assessment of the severity of prostate-related symptoms is necessary for doctors to choose the right treatment. We scored the symptoms of 2100 retired cadres and measured prostate size and urine flow for 3 consecutive years using the International Union of Urology BPS Symptom Score (IPSS) method.
