Tung oil: Tung oil prices have been stable in the world in recent years, but this year it has risen and now accounts for 60% of the world’s tung oil exports. In early 1996, the price of tung oil was nearly 1,400 US dollars per ton, an increase of nearly 20%. In addition, the market price of Rotterdam, the distribution center of South American tung oil, is also closely following China’s upward adjustment, which has increased by 50 US dollars per ton. However, due to the weak demand in the second half of this year, the price has dropped, and in November it has stabilized around 1325 U.S. dollars. According to foreign sources, the obvious reason for the rise in world tung oil prices this year is related to China’s reduced production and insufficient supply. China’s main producing area in Sichuan Province has experienced a severe reduction in production. Guangxi and Hunan have also reduced production to a certain extent, and Guizhou alone still maintains annual production. However, the province was flooded this year, and railways and roads were blocked, affecting supply. China’s practice of listing new tung oil in March was also postponed until June when it was due to market, which also helped boost prices.
