张僧繇是晋唐时期最负盛名的画家之一,他“画龙点睛”的故事如今早已广为人知。而在美术史的表述中,张僧繇也一直是谈论南北朝绘画时绕不过去的一位人物,现存的《五星-干八宿神形图》《雪山红树图》等少量作品是人们认识他风格面貌的重要媒介事实上,关于张僧繇的各条表述何时进入现代人的知识体系、现存的卷轴画作品又是如何被认为与张僧繇有关,这些都是值得我们重新思考的重要问题。本文拟对“张僧繇”这一概念生成的过程进行梳理,以检讨其中所包含的各种关联、知识得以成立的合法性。
