长江航道局进一步深化长江航道体制改革，继南京分局改革之后，在长江中游实行疏浚与养护内部分开管理。1997年8月28日，长江航道局在武汉隆重举行了两局成立的揭牌仪式。长江武汉航道局是交通部设在长江中游专职从事长江中游干线航道维护、管理、建设与开发的公益性事业单位。
The Yangtze River Waterway Bureau further deepened the reform of the waterway system in the Yangtze River. Following the reform of the Nanjing Branch, dredging and maintenance were centrally managed in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. On August 28, 1997, the Yangtze River Waterway Bureau held a grand opening ceremony of the establishment of the two Municipal Councils in Wuhan. Yangtze River Wuhan Waterway Bureau is the Ministry of Communications located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River full-time engaged in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River Channel maintenance, management, construction and development of public welfare institutions.
