放射虫是海洋浮游原生动物.一百多年来,国内外学者对该门类进行了多方面的研究.特别是近二十多年来,对放射虫的分类、生态、演化、地理及地史分布等方面的研究,都有较大的进展.化石放射虫的研究,已被广泛地应用于古地理、古气候、古海洋学的恢复和地层的划分及对比.因而,放射虫研究的理论意义和应用价值日趋重要.我国放射虫的研究工作开展较晚.六十年代初,张作人、谭智源等对东海水域中的浮游放射虫作过一些工作.东海沉积物中的化石放射虫的研究,至今尚未见到专门报导.近年来,我所和同济大学,在研究东海有孔虫时,曾对东海沉积物中的放射虫作过零星的鉴定工作.
