铈、钇等稀土元素除具有强烈的脱氧、脱硫能力外,还具有使铸铁中石墨球化的能力,这已为国内外的科研实验和生产实践所证实。由于金属钇难以生产,价格昂贵,在一般的钢铁生产中难以应用,在某些高级合金中添加钇元素也多以含量较高的钇合金进行。鉴于我国钇基重稀土矿源丰富,有关单位通过简易的选冶工艺已能生产一种较低品位的钇基重稀土硅钙合金(以下简称重稀土合金),因此,大力研究这种合金的应用对于发展我国的钢铁工业具有重大意义。
