OBJECTIVE: To analyze the gene expression of TGFβI and TGFβII receptors and to understand the correlation between the gene expression of two receptors and pancreatic cancer. Methods: ABC immunohistochemical staining was performed on 12 specimens of normal pancreas and 35 specimens of pancreatic carcinoma. P < 005 was significant. RESULTS: The positive rates of TGFβI and TGFβII receptors were 686% (24/35) and 60% (21/35), respectively; both were 51% positive (18/35); and the gene expression of the two receptors was found The stage of pancreatic cancer was related (P<001), and the TGFβII receptor was related to the degree of differentiation of pancreatic cancer (P<005). Conclusion: It is suggested that the expression of the two receptors is related to the occurrence of pancreatic cancer and is of significance for the diagnosis of this cancer.
