大凡一件根艺作品,一般只有一个观赏面,而一根一形一意者颇多。有两个或两个以上的观赏面,且又一根多形多意者,亦有之,但为少见。我创作的《牛狮同体》即是一件两面观作品。我在创作时,经历过一个较长的反复构思过程,除顺其自然地做些必要的删截外,未施什么较大的雕凿与拼接,完全保留了根材的天然形态,气韵生动。其发现、构思和创作过程如下:1993年春天,偶得一从深山石缝中挖掘出来的野檀枯根,高1.3m,直径0.60m,盘根错节,外形极怪,看上去仿佛一件花盆几架。经过脱皮处理,只见纹理清晰,瘤美观,不禁喜出望外,爱不释手。当时觉得,如果将此制作一件花盆几架,未免降
