河南省的引黄灌区分布着大片盐渍化的土壤,其特点是表层含盐量极高,一般为0.3—0.5%,最高可达1.5—3.0%;心土及底土含量低,仅0.04—0.08%.土壤中的盐分还随季节而变动,尤其是春天3月至6月间,气温骤增,风速大,蒸发量大,加上这些地区地下水位高达1.5—2.0米或以上,更由于这时作物复盖度小,造成了毛管水的强烈上升,土壤迅速返盐,但是经7,8月份雨季以后,盐分又向下淋移.因此采取农业技术措施防止或减轻土壤在春季积聚盐分,对确保该地区作物增产有重要意义,其中中耕就是一项有效的措施.
