Overview Bracea javanica Merrie is a shrub plant of the Bitterwood family. It has unisexual flowers and hermaphroditic flowers. The nucleolus are roundish in shape and extremely bitter in taste and medicinally used in its fruit. Panyu, Pearl River and Hainan Island in Guangdong Province are all its producing areas. China’s Zhao Xuemin first discovered that Brucea javanica had a curative effect on dysentery of amoeba (1765). Zhao wrote in the suicide note of the Compendium of Materia Medica that “Brons are able to treat the disease, and those who have chronic diarrhea and heal without heal”, according to the Dedede report. The effective composition of Brucea javanica on amoeba is in the meat of its benevolence, but not in the skin, and the water-soluble substance is amorphous.
