The differences of the conversation style between the American and Chinese languages lie in their different cultural values and thinking patterns. The paper is intended to make a contrastive study on how to explore the differences between two cultures from the perspective of the intercultural communication. The purpose of the paper is to make it clear that cultural literacy is the essential factor to language teaching.
