自柯达1975年开发出世界上第一台数码相机,在此后的二十多年间,数码相机并未征服很多挑剔的摄影师。然而,近些年来,数码相机的发展可谓一日千里。防抖、除尘、脸部识别、高清视频拍摄等新功能迅速被各大厂家普及,画质也有了翻天覆地的提高,与之相对的是胶片相机的全面没落,胶片时代的象征—伊斯曼-柯达公司也申请了破产保护,反转片的价格水涨船高,很多城市已经找不到冲洗反转片的店,一个时代宣告终结,已经很少有摄影师还在坚持用胶片而拒绝数码相机。
