2003年11月下旬，当NBA董事会批准通过从2004～2005赛季启动两大赛区、六个分区、一共30支球队的新赛制的时候，舆论普遍认为这将给NBA带来变化。但肯定没人想到，在新赛制下，很多球队会“大闹天空”；也不会有人想到，现在居于全联盟首位的是上赛季仅有29胜的太阳队，而且领先排在第二位的马刺队三场。 如果说“先胖不算胖”，赛季初的“混乱”只是一时现象，那么在常规赛接近半程的关口，各支球队打出的战绩应已逐渐与他们的实力挂钩勒。所谓的“乱”其实就是新格局。
