Since the 1980s in China, India has enjoyed rapid economic development since the 1990s and has drawn analysis and research from all quarters. It is worth mentioning that, compared with the earlier industrialized countries, both the two most populous countries started their “catch-up process” from a low starting point. After more than 20 years of reform and development, some people claim that the pace of its development is “lightning-type” and some people think it is “very deadly.” In 2004, GDP measured in terms of purchasing power parities, China’s development has been close to 1962 in Japan and 1980 in South Korea; India roughly reached 1954 in Japan and 1972 in South Korea. In this process of catching up and surpassing, many domestic and foreign factors have played a very important role. Some of these factors have a great impact on the economic development of China and India.
