Renal interstitial fibrosis is one of the pathological features of chronic kidney disease developed to the late stage, it involves a series of interrelated and complex process, in which cytokines play an important role. Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is the strongest mitogen in the polypeptide growth factor and is an important cytokine that participates in the process of physiological activity and pathological injury of multiple tissues. Over-expression of PDGF leads to many diseases, The role of renal fibrosis has received increasing attention. This review summarizes the biological characteristics of PDGF and its receptor PDGFR and their roles in renal interstitial fibrosis.
