Meta-xylene is the main raw material for the active amines K-3R aromatic amine, which is the new dye reactive product. At present, only a small amount of coal tar can be produced domestically, far from being able to meet the needs of production. In accordance with the spirit of Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Chemical Fuel (75) Ba-39 and Ministry of Petrochemical (76) Research No. 645, we started research on the preparation of mesitylene from heavy aromatics. In a heavy reformer containing a certain amount of heavy mesitylene, but due to contain a considerable amount of o-ethylbenzene, because the two boiling point difference of only 0.437 ℃, it is difficult to use the rectification method to obtain high purity mesitylene. In this paper, partial mesitylene as raw material, the use of isomerization - distillation method can be obtained with purity> 92% (weight) of mesitylene,
