1931年日本发动九一八事变,侵占中国东北,直至1945年宣布无条件投降,东北在日本铁蹄统治下长达十四年之久。“满洲国”“建国”之后,日伪在加强对东北人民的统治过程中,充分认识到文艺工作尤其是美术在教化民众过程中所起到的重要作用。因此,专门建立了权威的殖民文艺统治机构,设立了详尽的指导方针政策,拼凑了花样繁多的美术组织和团体,通过控制美术展览活动,垄断美术教育等,加强其美术奴化统治,达到颂扬殖民文艺、同化殖民地人民的罪恶目的。
Japan launched the Incident of September 18 in 1931, encroaching on northeast China, and declared unconditional surrender until 1945.
