当前,在花生育种上,大家迫切希望能够加快育种进程,早日选出新的优良品种供生产应用,为实现农业的现代化作出贡献。花生是喜温作物,按正常时间(蓬莱地区为4月下旬至5月上旬)播种,因品种不同,生育期为130~170天以上,当地无霜期满足不了一年两代的要求。育种上,要在一年完成两代,习惯上是用温室或南繁。实践证明,这两种办法虽然都能达到当年加代的目的,但是,由于条件的限制和成本过高,不利于大搞群众运动。因此,如何在当地,根据现有条件,采用比较简便的办法,当年杂交,当年加代,一年完成两年的工作,已成为当前开展群众性育种工作急待解决的问题。花生荚果发育及其与积温关系的研究,就是为解决这一问题而提出来的。
