The fatigue behavior of CFRP strengthened steel structures was studied. The preliminary tests under different loading conditions were completed to evaluate the fatigue properties of the specimens strengthened with CFRP. Degradation of stiffness is chosen as an indicator of overall failure due to the degradation of the stiffness of the reinforcing member due to the continuous peeling of the adhesive. Observations revealed that first the peel from the end of the plate occurred and then peeled off along the interface until it ruptured. Examination of the damaged adhesive layer revealed that the adhesive-metal interface was a weak point in the reinforcement system. The SN curve is defined in detail and the fatigue performance of the specimen is compared with the detailed fatigue resistance of the welded joints of European Specification 3. The results show that the fatigue resistance of the bonding layer between the steel sheet and the carbon fiber is obviously higher than that of the weld of the cover plate (Eurocode 3: 36 * -56 * entry).
