他曾经先后为几十部纪录片、故事片和电视连续剧配乐并进行词曲创作。他创作的许多歌曲被人们广为传唱。他创作的《红楼梦》的插曲作为套曲入选了20世纪华人音乐经典。一曲《枉凝眉》使他名扬海内外。从政后的他感到自己肩负一份新的责任。他带队深入民族地区的许多地方调查研究,先后写出了满族、畲族等不同民族地区有关民族民间文化艺术保护的颇有见地的报告。他所做的是一项有关民族民间文化艺术保护方面开创性的工作。他的一封信,影响了我国著作权立法的进程。他领导创建了我国第一个著作权集体管理组织——中国音乐著作权协会。国外同行称他是“中国音乐著作权之父”。
He has worked for dozens of documentaries, feature films and television series music and songwriting. Many of his songs are widely sung by people. His episode “A Dream of Red Mansions” was selected as a songwriter of the 20th century Chinese music classics. A “vain eyebrows,” so that he famous at home and abroad. After politics, he felt himself shouldering a new responsibility. He led in-depth investigations and studies in many places in ethnic regions and successively wrote some insightful reports on the protection of ethnic folk arts and culture in different ethnic regions such as Manchu and Shezu. What he did was a groundbreaking work on the protection of ethnic folk culture and the arts. His letter affected the process of copyright legislation in our country. He led the creation of China’s first copyright collective management organization - China Music Copyright Association. Foreign colleagues call him “the father of Chinese music copyright.”
