Hu Hanmin and Wang Jingwei are both important political figures in the history of the Republic of China. They have many things in common in their lives. They are fellow countrymen, students in Japan, and followers of Sun Yat-sen for their democratic revolution. Both of them are deeply admired and reused by Sun Yat-sen. Their common life experiences have made them a close friend of life and death. After Sun Yat-sen’s death, Hu and Wang began to part ways and eventually became common political enemies. At the same time, great changes have taken place in the thinking of Hu and Wang, each producing many different and even diametrically opposed ideas. In particular, since the September 18 Incident, in response to the invasion by the Japanese invaders, Hu Hanmin actively advocated resistance to Japan and Wang Jingwei was gradually reduced to a great traitor. This article intends to compare the attitudes of the two against invaders in order to explore the evolution and differences of their nationalist ideologies.
