Whether it is an auction record, an international museum exhibition, a show of famous collectors, or a biennale and festival, 2013 is a bumper harvest of Chinese contemporary art, and so is 2014. Once again, China has become the number one market for contemporary art in the world and Sotheby’s and Christie’s auction houses have also opened their offices in mainland China. You might say that this is an art bubble or speculation. But this time, it is not just the market that drives people to focus once again on contemporary Chinese art. As NOAA Horowitz, chief of the armory art show, said: "2013 appears to be an extremely important year to bring ’Chinese stories’ to the world stage, and it is no longer just talking about a steep price rise.
