一 1931年前后,我已经渐渐不能满足于阅读儿童读物,开始读旧小说和新文学作品,不再订阅《小朋友》,订阅《现代》、《文学》了。除了还不太懂但又爱读的鲁迅,读得最多的要算张天翼。《大林和小林》以后,是《鬼土日记》、《包氏父子》等等,最后是《洋泾浜奇侠》。喜欢他的幽默感,流畅和比较单纯的风格。但又渐渐地感到不满足,好像总少点什么,和叶永蓁的《小小十年》比较,就觉得冷漠了些,也知道他是怀着爱和憎在写,还是有强烈的、鲜明的爱和憎的,可为什么却又让人感觉冷漠呢。这时候,就很渴望有个批评家来解答了。
