在主要资本主义国家里,不论是近期的还是长远的造船计划,均立足于维持70年代中期建立起来的海军结构形式,这种结构形式在今后一段时间内不会有大的变化。在小国海军中,快艇的比重有所增大,这种快艇自装备导弹以来,建造的数目越来越大了。与所有其它外国海军相比,美国海军居绝对优势。它拥有350万吨以上的吨位,比紧追随它的英国海军(65万吨)高出许多。美海军舰艇中,约60%是外国造船工业部门提供的,其中六个主要造船国家(除美国外,还有英、法、日、意、西德)的比重占85%左右(见表)。
In the major capitalist countries, both the near-term and long-term shipbuilding plans are based on the maintenance of the naval structure established in the mid-1970s. Such structural forms will not change much in the near future. In the small navy, the proportion of speedboats has increased, and the number of such boats built since the deployment of missiles has been growing. The U.S. Navy has the absolute advantage over all other foreign navies. It has a tonnage of more than 3.5 million tonnes, much higher than the British navy following it (650,000 tonnes). About 60% of the U.S. naval vessels are provided by the foreign shipbuilding industry. About 85% of the six major shipbuilding countries (except the United States, Britain, France, Japan, Italy and West Germany) (see table) .
