Twilight on June 15, 1896, monstrous waves continued tumbling to the coast of northeastern Japan hit. The witnesses desperately sent out an alarm, they shouted “tsunami! Tsunami!” - The Japanese call for such a huge earthquake triggered by the tide. But few people can hear it, because the roar of the waves cover the voices of people as far as cannon sounds. When the monstrous waves hit the coast, it is like a black water wall of up to 24 meters. A few minutes later, when the tide receded slowly, only the remains of mud and wood left in this once noisy fishing village. The tsunami destroyed everything.
