He Gong, a Chinese artist residing in theUnited States, is now teaching at SichuanUniversity. He studied oil painting and arteducation at Southwest China Normal Universityin 1978 and received his master誷 degree in 1985.He went to Friends University, in the state ofKansas, for advanced studies in 1986. As a visitingscholar he went to York University, Toronto,Canada, in 1991. Sponsored by an UNESCOcultural exchange program, he visited SoutheastAsia and the Middle East in 1994 and traveled inEurope, mostly in Holland in 1995. He has been avisiting professor at the University of Tennesseesince the mid-1990s. He has lectured at dozens ofuniversities in Europe, Canada and the UnitedStates during the last decade. His works have beenexhibited in China, Europe and North America. Hislifestyle has enabled him to observe the culture andart of both the East and the West with an objectivepoint of view.
