英语写作是初中英语学习的重要内容，是检验英语水平的重要标准之一，也是中考（以及将来高考）英语测试的重要组成部分，写作考题旨在测试学生的英语语言综合运用能力。《英语新课程标准》对中学生的英语写作能力提出了新的、更高的要求。怎样才能让中学生提高英语写作能力呢？现结合我多年的教学实践，谈一谈如何指导学生英语写作。
一、写作技巧
写作时主要应重视的方面：时态正确；人称正确；内容完整，涵盖提示要点；意义连贯，也就是尽力做到语言表达流畅，少犯语法和逻辑错误；采用自己熟悉的英文结构；尽力恰当地使用过渡性词语及句子。除以上要点外，我们还应考虑所设计的话题，学生们是否感兴趣、这些话题是否难度适中、是否能渗透如德育教育、感恩教育、劳动教育等。
怎样才能做好这些呢？下面以具体的课堂教学设计为例，进一步探讨。
二.教学过程
1. 假如你是Mary，你的笔友Tom想来北京旅游，请你给他提建议。如时间，活动安排等，及原因。范文：
Dear Tom
I am happy to know that you want to visit Beijing. Here is some advice for you.
I think the best time to come is in Spring because it is neither too hot nor too cold. You can go sightseeing such as visiting the Summer Palace， the Palace Museum， the Great Wall and Tian’anmen Square and so on .They are very famous. You’d better take a camera because you may want to take quite a few photos .There are lots of people visiting Beijing in Spring every year. So it is a good idea for you to book your hotel online before coming. Well， the most comfortable way to travel in Beijing is by taxi， but it is the most expensive one.
I hope my advice will be helpful. I am looking forward to seeing you in Beijing as soon as possible.

Third， a good friend should be generous .Here “generous”mainly means he or she should share his or her ideas and feelings with others. In this way ， they can know each other better. Finally， I think friends are like books——you don’t need a lot of them as long as they are good. 点评：本文重在指导学生运用“I think…”引导的宾语从句谈个人观点。同时渗透了德育教育。
