杂交水稻制种,由于父本生育期长,母本生育期短,父本插秧后,还有一段较长的时间才能插母本。我们利用这段空闲时间,在母本行间放养红萍,取得较好的效果。1977年,我们在公社制种田试养红萍,方法是父本插秧后放萍种,母本插秧前,结合挖翻母本行间倒萍作基肥,结果在亩施碳酸氢铵37斤的情况下,获得亩产杂交种120.5斤的好收成;据大田测产,每亩倒萍3,000斤左右,杂交种可增产12%以上。1978年,我们在6亩板田越冬未施基肥的制种田里 Hybrid rice seed production, due to the long growth period of the male parent, the female reproductive period is short, after the transplanting of the male parent, there is still a long period of time to insert the female parent.
