One of the most unobtrusive conditions for fiberglass optics is the time and skill required to assemble the connector. In general, two types of connectors have been provided in the industry to deal with this problem. The first is a quick-polish or no-polish connector. These connectors still use epoxy to hold the fiber. Even the fastest curing epoxy used for fiber optics requires a 5-30 minute settling time. The second connector replaces epoxy with crimp technology, but this connector takes 3-5 minutes to polish.
