“作画大要,要去邪甜俗赖四个字”。这是元人黄公望在其《画山水诀》的结尾说的一句话。我每读至此,未尝不三复而叹息。近来感于时弊,又有新解,以为“邪”、“甜”、“俗”、“赖”四病,实际上皆与对待传统的态度有关。“邪”者,师心自运,漠视传统;“甜”与“俗”乃同一问题,表面化理解传统;而“赖”则是食古不化,甘当奴仆。传统与当下之间的矛盾,每个时代的艺术家都必须面对,厚积而发、借古开今的道理也是人人懂得,然而以雅正为尚,依中道而行,却似易实难。
“Great painting, go to evil sweet folk rely on four words ”. This is the metaphor of Huang Gongwang at the end of his painting “Landscape tactics.” Every time I read this, I have not missed anything but sigh. In the recent past, we have gotten to the current situation and have new understandings, thinking that the four diseases of “evil”, “sweet”, “vulgar” and “depended on” are all actually related to treating the traditional attitude. “Evil ” who, self-motivated, ignoring the traditional; “sweet ” and “vulgar ” is the same problem, the surface understanding of tradition, and “Lai ” is the euphemism, willing to be slaves. The contradiction between tradition and the moment, the artists of each era must face, accumulate thickly, the principle of borrowing the ancient times is also understood by everyone. However, it is easy to be true difficult.
