With the development of geology and metallurgical industry, higher requirements for spectrophotometric determination of thorium are put forward. However, there are few reports on the chromogenic reagent for photometric thorium. Its color reaction in the presence of surfactants is more rarely reported. Currently used more color agent for the chromogenic acid arsenazo class, such as arsenazo-III, arsenazo-M, para-acetyl arsenazo and so on. In this paper, we aim to find a better color developing reagent with better performance than arsenazo by modifying the functional groups, and discuss the possibility of spectrophotometric determination of thorium with some asymmetric chlorophosphonazo-type developers. For CPA-pB synthesis conditions, purification
