The University of London Underwater Nondestructive Testing (NDE) Center obtained a contract of £ 170,000 from the Department of Energy requesting welding of four steel joints at four full size knots to artificially create cracks and characterize cracks. The contract has some technical requirements for the node, and then loaded to form a real fatigue crack, the size of which must be determined in advance. During fatigue loading, the crack propagation was carefully monitored and the character of the full-size crack was described by magnetic particle test, AC voltage drop and ultrasonic-time-one-pass reflection method. Fatigue joint is important in passing
