《律历意》、《乐意》是蔡邕“十意”中的两种,曾被收入《东观汉记》,同时也有“十意”单行本流传,大约在宋元时期散亡。不过,《律历意》比较幸运,因以司马彪《续汉书·律历志》的名义附载于范晔《后汉书》而得以较为完整地流传至今;其“律”部资料源于京房《律术》,记载的主要内容是京房六十律和候气之法。《乐意》则完全散亡,现在能见的只有“汉乐四品”等少数几条佚文。蔡邕《叙乐》与《乐意》不是同书异名,二者也不存在隶属关系,而是各自独立的两种音乐著述。于文华《十意辑存》中的“二意”辑本,规模虽大,但严重背离辑佚学术规范,既歪曲了文献原貌,又掺杂了诸多误辑之文,须审慎待之,不可轻信。
