Weightlessness and ground-based simulated weightlessness lead to reduced weight-bearing bone mineral and hydroxyproline content and diminished biomechanical properties in rats. Vitamin C (V.C) is known to promote collagen synthesis. So explore the supplement V. C on tail bone in rats with bone loss, loss of weight loss prevention measures of some significance. In the experiment, male SD rats (n = 7) were fed with high dose of ascorbic acid (250mg / kg body weight). The physical and biomechanical parameters of femur and femoral cartilage were measured after 22 days. The result shows that, supplement V. Hydroxyproline, ash content and density of femoral cartilage in C group and the elastic load, maximum stress and hardness of femoral cartilage in C group were significantly higher than those in control group. The results suggest that large doses of ascorbic acid can significantly improve the physicochemical properties of the femoral cartilage and the biomechanical properties of the femur in tail-suspended rats.
