长江水利委员会(以下简称长委)成立于新中国诞生不久的1950年2月,1955年～1989年曾更名为长江流域规划办公室。 在党中央、国务院的亲切关怀下,在水利部的直接领导下,在以林一山主任为代表的历任领导的组织带领下,成千上万的长委人前赴后继、艰苦创业,为神州第一河的治理开发,为三峡、南水北调等大型水利工程的规划、设计殚精竭虑、默默奉献,取得了辉煌的成绩,形成了“团结、奉献、科学、创新”的长委精神。
