Time Domain Measurement In addition to frequency domain measurements, it is often necessary to make time-domain measurements of optical communication systems that use digital transmission and to ensure the quality of data transmission throughout the system through time-domain measurements. There are two kinds of single-value waveform method and multi-value waveform method in time domain measurement. Single-valued waveform measurements include pulse parameters, templates, and statistical measurements such as rms noise and rms jitter. Multivariate waveform measurements are often called eye diagrams and include pulse parameters, frame, extinction ratio, and jitter. Pulse parameters measured include: rise time, fall time, overshoot, undershoot, impulse, pulse width, duty cycle, cycle and set-up time.
