Stephanie: Oh no, my damn computer is ①acting up again! It just shut down on me for no reason!
John: Uh oh! Did you try rebooting it yet?
Stephanie: Yeah, I’ve tried everything. Every time I try to open a program, the stupid thing quits on me.
John: You might have ②picked up a virus somewhere. Better call down to tech support.
Stephanie: I guess I don’t really have much choice at this point. Hello? Hi, this is Stephanie in sales. I’m having some problems with my computer up here. You’ll be right up?
Techie: Did you try rebooting?
Stephanie: Yes, I tried rebooting. I’m not a complete idiot.
Techie: Alright, alright. Hold on, let me check it out.
Stephanie: See, when I start up and put in my password, everything works fine, but as soon as I try to open a program, something goes wrong.
Techie: I see. Hmmm. What have we here? Looks like you picked up a worm from somewhere. It’s hiding in your memory shutting down the computer.
Stephanie: Where did it come from? Is it serious?
Techie: You probably picked it up by opening an E-mail attachment. Make sure you scan everything you receive even if it’s from friends. You never know if they might be carrying something.
Stephanie: I promise I’ll be careful. Now, can you deal with it so I can get back to work?
Techie: Yeah, it’s a quick fix, don’t worry. Just let me wipe it from your memory and then I’ll reboot.
Stephanie: Thanks.
John:
Techie:
Techie:
Stephanie:
Stephanie:
