郭嵩焘是中国近代史上颇有争议的人物，其遭时人贬斥、争议的，除三年使 西，便是三年抚粤。郭嵩焘署理广东巡抚，是在错综复杂的政治背景和社会环境下开始的， 先后与两广总督毛鸿宾、瑞麟及闽浙总督、节制广东军务的左宗棠发生交恶构怨，又遭粤 省绅商的谤议而名声大坏，最后罢职而去。其由来、政绩，与三总督交恶及被谤的是是非 非，本文拟作一个客观叙述与评价，以澄清历史真相。
Guo Songtao is a rather controversial figure in modern Chinese history. When it was dismissed and debated by the people of the time, Guo Songtao spent three years in Guangdong except for three years. Its origin, performance, and the Governor vicious and slander is right and wrong, this article intends to make an objective description and evaluation to clarify the historical truth.
